Will I have a panic attack if I stop taking Xanax?

I am trying to lower my typical intake of Xanax, but every time I skip a dose, my blood pressure spikes, I sweat like a pig, and I live in constant fear. It's like I'm on the verge of having panic attacks all day and through night. Will this get any better?

Xanax (Alprazolam) is a commonly prescribed benzodiazepine, used for the treatment of various mental health concerns, including anxiety, insomnia, and stress related muscle tension. Detoxification from xanax is very difficult due to the drug's short half-life and withdrawal symptoms for xanax are particularly bad for drugs of its class. Street names for xanax include xany (zanny), z-bars, or bars. If you have medical concerns or symptoms, please see a doctor.
