How do you detox from Cocaine?

What is cocaine detox like? Can I do it on my own, or do I need the help of a treatment center?

Though the cocaine epidemic has slowed since the 1980's, many people still struggle with cocaine and crack addictions. Cocaine is most commonly snorted (inhaled) in "lines", but users can also inject or smoke it. Crack is most commonly smoked, using a crack pipe or by freebasing. Cocaine is a stimulant and an anesthetic. It was traditionally used in dental practices because of its ability to numb the mouth for short periods of time. Cocaine bought on the street may not always be pure and runs the risk of being laced with mystery substances like baking soda.

Cocaine (benzoylmethylecgonine) is a stimulant drug produced from the coca plant, most commonly available in fine white powder or crushable clumps, called "rocks".

Cocaine Addiction

Cocaine is addictive. Cocaine users can experience strong cravings for the drug, and may find themselves needing increasing amounts of cocaine over time, to feel satisfied or to avoid suffering withdrawal sickness when without cocaine.

Cocaine Detox

Withdrawal from cocaine addiction may include serious physical side effects and severe sickness which can seem worse than continuing the addiction. Medical detox from cocaine withdrawl is often recommended, to prevent sickenss and physical complications from withdrawal.

Get professional, medical help. Detox is a very demanding process and some people experience worse withdrawals than others. Though cocaine withdrawal is rarely fatal, symptoms may be debilitating and can last for weeks if detox is not performed properly. Cocaine detox centers will be able to create programs custom to your needs, so the duration of detox is subject to change. Additional support never hurt anyone.

I've known many people who have detoxed from cocaine in the comfort of their own homes. You must note, though, that some people may have notably stronger dependencies than others and may experience exceptionally agonizing withdrawal symptoms that should not be treated alone.
