Where is it legal to have an open container of alcohol?

I know you can have open alcoholic drink on the Las Vegas strip, where else are you allowed to drink in public in the US? Do all states have open container laws?

Though alcohol is legal for those of certain age, many additional restrictions are in place to help control public drunkenness.

Alcohol Abuse

Open container laws are created to help lessen the dangers associated with alcohol abuse in public.

There are seven states that allow open containers in vehicles and/or in public; Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Mississippi, Missouri, Virginia, and West Virginia. All other states, including Nevada, forbid open containers of alcohol in public or may allow the cities within their state to make up their own ordinances concerning open carry of alcoholic beverages.

I heard you can have open containers in California, specifically San Diego and Venice Beach.
