Though alcohol is legal, it can create serious dependencies that are extremely difficult to overcome.

Alcohol Addiction

Recovering alcoholics often need to reach a sober equilibrium before entering treatment and counseling.

Alcohol Detox

Detox from alcohol can be life-threatening if not performed under medical supervision.

From my understanding of the detox process an alcohol detox would generally last about 5 days. Medication is often used for the detox process to avoid DT's or possible seizure. A medically monitored detox from alcohol is highly recommended by professionals I've consulted. It can be quite dangerous if not done correctly. Hope this helps.

The length of time needed for the detoxification of your body depends on how long you've been drinking, how much you've been drinking and what you've been drinking. That said, the time required can vary from 5 to 14 days for the initial process. However, your organs will take months or even years to recover. That is provided that you are not at the stage where you are drinking aftershave, Lysol and rubbing alcohol.
