As far as physically or psychologically addictive? Depends. It is an amphetamine, so it carries many of the same qualities as speed, but at a much lower dosage. It certainly will not get you "hooked" like painkillers or nicotine. But like any stimulating substance (such as caffeine), you can become so dependent on taking the drug that you may rely on the effects to function at a preferred, or even "normal", level. |
I knew somebody who was prescribed Concerta throughout college. If he needed to get work done, he took it. If he had free time, he never once took it for recreation. It is not addictive in the sense that it makes you want to have the "high" of the drug, but in the sense that you think you need it to be productive. Like any prescribed "study drug" you have to show discretion and responsibility in knowing when it is OK to take. |
