Is Hydroxyzine addictive?

My girlfriend was prescribed Hydroxyzine for her severe bug bites. I understand it is also used as a treatment for mild pain and anxiety. Sounds heavier than your average antihistamine to me; how addictive is this stuff? Or am I jumping to conclusions?

Drug Addiction

Many people search for alternatives to various prescription medication for fear of becoming addicted.

Prescription Drugs

Hydroxyzine is available by prescription only.

Hydroxyzine has been used to help treat mild pain.

I feel that people can become addicted to just about anything, especially prescription medication. There are good reasons why some medication is not available to the public unless authorized by a doctor. Be careful. Hydroxyzine may carry a high potential for abuse.

Quick research will tell you that hydroxyzine does not share the same potential for abuse and addiction as similar therapeutic medication. BUT, that doesn't mean it has zero potential. Just saying..
