Legal age varies from state to state, but if you are of legal age in your state then NO, you are considered an adult. If you fall into the under legal age for your state, then yes they are legally obligated to. |
Detox is a medical procedure, and is delivered by licensed medical professionals. They have to follow the laws of their state, which almost always require them to notify parent or guardian of minors (for permission to treat). Of course some Detox centers are "cooler" than others. There are many ways to deal with addiction, and ALL of them involve figuring out what is going on behind the scenes, why the person is drinking so heavily, etc. and that means finding out about the family situation. If the counselor is cool, he or she will work it out with YOU not them, and then approach them when you've agreed on how best to do that. If you cooperate with the treatment, of course. |
