Can you get drunk from drinking hand sanitizer?

I read that people were filtering hand sanitizer and getting alcohol. How do you filter it? Is it really safe to drink? I don't want to tell kids how to do it, but I want to understand how it is done.

Many hand sanitizers, like Purell and Germ-X, contain alcohol as a primary disinfectant.

Alcohol Abuse

Though alcohol based hand sanitizers are not meant to be consumed, desperation leads many people to find alcohol anywhere they can.

Yes, if you drink enough of it. But while getting high you will also be poisoning yourself with the other chemicals in the substance, which could lead to organ shut down, illness and/or death. I do not know how to distill the alcohol from cleaning products.
