Drug Addiction

Many studies have explored the connection between genetics and drug addiction.

Drug Abuse

Genetics may play a role in a person's tendency to abuse drugs.

Alcohol Addiction

Many cultures struggle with alcohol addiction, and some studies are pointing to genetics as a reason why.

Alcohol Abuse

Genetics may play a role in a person's tendency to abuse alcohol.

My family has a history of addiction for as long as I can recall. I've always had problems with my drinking, my father was an alcoholic, my grandfather was an alcoholic, my great-grandfather was an alcoholic, and you can bet on it that any of their brothers were alcoholics too (not to mention smokers, but I guess "everybody was doing it back then, right?"). My son didn't drink much, but he did lose his life to drug addiction (heroin mostly). I remind my other two boys to be careful. I'm no scientist, but I know my blood struggles with dependencies.
