Opiate Detox

Methadone is often used during opiate detox, especially heroin treatment, to help with withdrawal symptoms and addictive cravings.

Opiate Rehab

Methadone maintenance treatment (mmt) is a form of drug rehabilitation that begins in detox, specifically for the treatment of opiate addiction.

Methadone maintenance is a form of drug treatment for opiate addiction, such as heroin, morphine, oxycontin, etc.

Heroin is the most common form of opiate addiction, for which methadone maintenance is a treatment option.

Methadone maintenance treatment (mmt) programs administer the synthetic analgesic, methadone, as a replacement for opiates like heroin and morphine, and synthetic opioids like oxycontin and hydrocodone.

Methadone Maintenance Treatment Programs are programs in which addicted individuals receive daily doses of methadone in an effort to wean the addict off of stronger drugs. These programs were initially developed during the 1960s as part of a broad, multicomponent treatment program that also emphasized resocialization and vocational training. Because they are usually administered by trained health professionals, they are generally considered to safer than trying to kick an addiction alone. The success or failure of such programs have been mixed and the usual deciding factor has been the financial backing each program has received. Programs that are well funded and able to offer a number of components (Like life skills training, job retraining, etc) tend to be more successful than those where there is only enough funding to offer the methadone.
