Drug Addiction

When substance use continues outside voluntary control, there may be a drug addiction.

Drug Detox

When attempting to stop a drug addiction, medically-supervised drug detox is often recommended. Withdrawal from some substances may be dangerous, and even life-threatening.

Alcohol Addiction

The phrase "cold turkey" is often used to describe quitting alcohol completely in one step, when alcohol use is recognized as a problem, or addiction.

Alcohol Detox

Alcohol detox involves supervision during withdrawal from sustained alcohol use, in order to monitor health and manage the symptoms of withdrawal.

Quitting cold turkey means you stop using drugs or alcohol abruptly, as opposed to lessening use gradually or using supplement medication. This method is usually more brutal on the mind and body.
