"What are the most addictive drugs?" is a broad and, frankly, controversial question. "Most addictive" could refer to the typical speed at which someone gets addicted to a drug, the collective number of people addicted to a drug, the difficulty at which it is to recover from an addiction to a drug, etc. Proper measurement of addictiveness is difficult to imagine by many, as each addiction is unique to the person and their circumstances.

Drug Addiction

Millions of people become addicted to drugs every year.

Drug Abuse

Chronic drug abuse will lead to the creation of serious chemical dependencies and addiction.

Though alcohol is legal, it is an addictive, controlled substance.

Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol addiction affects millions of people a year.

Heroin, Oxycodone... I guess Opiates come to mind when considering strength of addiction.

Meth (Methamphetamine) and all of its derivatives are pretty nasty drugs too. It is all too common for an addict to get lost in the destructive cycle of a meth addiction, and never be able to fully recover.

What about cigarettes? How many hundreds of millions of people are addicted to those worldwide?

Alcohol is the most widely used and abused drug of all drugs and is very addictive. Most people do not think of it as a drug and are not horrified by people who drink as they would be if it was heroin. It is not thought of as a drug because it is Socially Acceptable to drink either alone or in public places.

A Drug is a chemical substance that when taken into the body causes a mental, physical and/or emotional reactions.
